On the 15th April the Goulborn Valley club are having a ride day in Shepparton and are happy to host our club. This is a great way to enjoy some different trails and meet new faces.

The GV club will have a shuttle bus and trailer for the gravity cravers as well as a BBQ and cold drinks at the bottom of the hill. Cost for the day is free for the XC and $30 for the shuttle bus (unlimited runs). Food and drinks via a gold coin donation. A day license will be available on the day for non MTBA members.

Meet up at the Epsom Market carpark (Howard St, Epsom) near the Safeway Petrol at 8:00 a.m. for an 8:15 departure. A quick stop for coffee in Shepparton on the way should see us at the hill by 10:00 a.m. Departure for home wil be around 2:00pm. For those that just haven’t had  enough there will be an opportunity to have a blast along the Broken River Trails on the way home.

Stay tuned for winter series details. ]]> <![CDATA[Summer Series Race - 9 Results]]> First across the line was Micheal Smyth finishing in 1st place followed by Mark Robertson in 2nd while Brodie Loam finished with a well earnt 3rd place.
Top of the leader for the series points was won by Tasman Nankervis (219 pts)  followed by Chris Hamilton (204 pts) and then Jason Lowndes (186 pts).
In the teams points, well you gotta be in it to win it with the dominating team RJG taking 1st with 500 pts, followed by Russell Parsons Builder with 454 pts and Bath Lane Bakery being pipped at the post for 3rd with 440pts.

Congratulations to everyone we hope you enjoyed this Tuesday nights series and we look forward to seeing you at the club champs on the 24th at Max Kettles.

The track is suitable for all levels of riders practice open from 1pm, racing starts at 2.00pm.

5.39km from Strathfieldsaye Rd (Max's on left).

See you there.]]> <![CDATA[Summer Series Race - 8 Results]]> There were three podium finishes with Russell Parsons 1st, Eveine Burrell 2nd and Sam Buckle sprinting across the line for 3rd. Tasman Nankervis put the pedal down with the fastest lap of the night: 13.25
Several teams are in a position to battle it out against similar placed teams to take bragging rights for the teams points in the next race.

Overall club members finished well above middle order, a fantastic achievement that everyone can be proud of.]]> <![CDATA[Summer Series Race 7 - Results ]]> It was a pleasant summer evening for race 7 of the summer series which saw some great racing and five podium finishes.

Congratulations to Tasman Nankervis (1st), Sean Penno (2nd), Stephen Flood (3rd), Rob McCormick (4th) and Chris Hamilton (5th) place. Also Chris Hamilton deserveredly scored an additional prize setting a blistering fastest lap time of 13min 11 secs.

 ]]> <![CDATA[Summer Series Race 4 - Results]]> Race four of the summer series enjoyed a fantastic turnout and saw Ashley Gale taking out 1st place followed by Murray Willet in 2nd and Lachlan Cherry storming across the line for 3rd. ]]> <![CDATA[Hucker, Lewis & Nankervis takes out State Championship jerseys]]> A field of 108 riders competed for 17 jerseys on the 5.5km single trail course, which included some new rock droppoffs (Niagra). The weather was great and assisted in a great day of racing, the most dramatic being the battle for the Elite Men jersey. At the start of the race Hucker, AJ (Adrian Jackson) and BJ (Brenton Jones) set the early pace by gaping the field on the first lap. During the third lap BJ began to feel the early effort and was gaped by Hucker and AJ, who went together for the next 2 laps with only seconds separating them. On the last lap Hucker had a "off" but was able to climb onto the bikeand put in a great effort to catch AJ and pass him on the last climb to win by 50metre at the finish line.
Congratulations to all club members who tested themselves against the best riders in the state.

So, it’s time for us to put on our fairy wings and wave our magic wands over the trails of Cavagnas Rd.

]]> <![CDATA[Bendigo Riders Conquer Major Pain]]> The overall series points results ended well for Bendigo, Peta Mullens was 1st and Ev Burrell was 3rd overall in elite women. Peter Casey was 3rd overall in elite male.

The ride will set out from the Club Track at Cavagna’s Rd, but we will use the Top Gate off Storey’s Rd as our
access point – John’s lower paddock is a bit wet at present!
 
Meeting time is 8.30am, ready to set out in two or three groups depending on numbers and abilities.
 
Rob will lead us out on the ‘new’ race track which is being groomed for the Victorian State Champs on
November 13th – here’s your chance to check it out in preparation for the race, local knowledge may give
you the edge!
The social ride will then head out towards Pilcher’s Bridge, through Snake Haven and perhaps on to Brian
and Scotty’s – who knows we might get lucky and spot the emu and 2 chicks Muz came across on a recent
ride.
As always we welcome all mountain bike riders and match the groups to riders’ abilities.
Our social rides usually last about 2 – 2 1/2 hours, be sure to carry drinks and snacks.

Get revved up for the 2011 Victorian State Championships, hosted by MTB Bendigo on November 13th.
The race is a short hit-out format that will see the winner of each category (excluding Sport) awarded with a Victorian State Jersey. In addition, the top three places will be awarded a Vic medal.
Racing will be held on a challenging track incorporating sections of some of our best known races like the Epic and the Bendigo 6hr.
]]> <![CDATA[Club Working Bee]]> In preparation for the up coming Victorian State Championships on the 13th November and the clubs summer series starting on the 25th October, the club is holding a working bee at Cavagnas Rd this Sunday starting at 8:30 until 1:00pm.
All members are encouraged to come along and help freshen up the track.
Some tools will be provided but personal supplies will be appreciated.
The club will provide free entry to the first round of the summer series sponsored by Bendigo Bank for those in attendance.
Refreshments? They will be provided on the day. Looking forward to seeing you there!]]> <![CDATA[Goldcross Victorian Enduro Series Rd 9]]> If you havent ridden Mt Major before then heres an opportunity to ride in the final round of the Goldcross Victorian Enduro Series (Round 9) just outside of Shepparton. This hill has been transformed by World Trail and locals into a mountain biking wonderland.
The event will be held on 30th October, on a 10km course mostly single track. For all the details head on over to Goulburn Valley Mountain Bike Club.]]> <![CDATA[Peta Mullen's wins Tour de Timor]]> Congratulations to Peta Mullens winner of the women's open tilte in this years Tour de Timor. The Tour de Timor is a six day, six stage race covering a total distance of 607kms. Peta and her team "Nothing Good Can Come of This" performed well and kept her lead in the final stage mentioning "We were still holding first, second and third and wanted to retain that which I think we did which makes us really happy".
Well done on an excellent result. ]]> <![CDATA[Epic Social Ride 2011]]>

 A great turn out to the Epic Social Ride on Sept 11th was enjoyed by all, giving riders from various locations the chance to ride with Bendigo locals on some of the best tracks in Victoria.
Those who elected to take the longer ride option enjoyed a great morning of riding taking in the iconic features of the local MTB scene including Murray's track, Fastways and Mt Herbert.

]]> <![CDATA[September 11 Epic Social ride.]]> The Epic has taken a holiday, somewhere DRY and warm until the race tracks recover from two very wet and damaging races  - the 2010 Epic and the 2011 Bendigo Six Hour. Who remembers the mud on those occasions? Roll on 2012.

However, in the meantime, the Bendigo MTB Club want to take those wannabe Epic riders on the best tracks and trails and hills (no rocks – promise!) that are in and around Bendigo.

Bendigo is the only city in Australia that is surrounded by bush. Bendigo mountain bikers have many tracks that are not raced or ridden by “foreigners”. It is like having a gold mine full of gold and not mining it!

So all the racing and social mountain bikers can be shown the BEST rides around Bendigo on Sunday September 11th.

The club will have four team leaders and according to how your ego classifies your ability and how far you want to ride you are invited to join one of the groups for a tour of the “Best In Bendigo Bush” rides. Places like Eagle’s Nest, Big Hill, Murray’s, Fastways – never heard of them, after this days riding you will be talking about them.

Bring bike, gels and food, water, and that friendly mountain biker attitude to The Spring Gully General Store, 134 Spring Gully Road, Spring Gully VIC 3550.
MTBA members donate $5 and non MTBA members donate $5 plus $5 for a MTBA social day licence. Pick your group and ride for hours with your family, mates and like-minded mtb fanatics.
 
The rides will take up about 4 hours so be prepared to carry sufficient food and water for the ride you choose. We remind you that, while we aim to complete the rides in a stated time, it is not always possible to do so due to the unpredictable nature of mountain biking and problems we may encounter.

Bendigo offers many activities for the non bikers in the family - Explore Central Deborah Gold Mine, Talking Tram, Golden Dragon Museum & Bendigo Pottery, visit The White Wedding Dress exhibition at The Art Gallery or enjoy the shops, cafes or playgounds, something for everyone.

Enjoy a bite to eat, coffee and company at the after ride party to finish off a great mountain bike adventure.

Looking forward to riding the trails with you.]]> <![CDATA[Bendigo Epic 2011 to be rescheduled for 2012]]> This difficult decision was not taken lightly as the club is aware of the popularity and large following this iconic event enjoys with mountain bikers all over Victoria.
Rest assured The Epic 2012 will be a bigger and better event The prospect of newly formed trail networks within the Greater Bendigo Region leaves a tantalising taste in the mouths of the organizers who are working towards making the Epic a stand out event for the 2012 calendar.
