The riders who elected to take the longer ride option enjoyed a great morning of riding taking in the iconic features of the local MTB scene including Murray's track, Fastways and Mt Herbert. The weather was very kind to us as when we made it to the top of Mt Herbert there was a very large black cloud hovering over nearby Mt Alexander. Luckily for us it was headed in the opposite direction and  although we didnt get rained on we did ride through some wet sections of trail where the rain had fallen quite heavily. the ride was pretty much without incident except for local legend Peter Moroni having three flats and a torn jacket (lucky he owns a bike store).
