Fancy a social ride this Sunday? Meet at the Scout Camp car park at 10am joining Kingsley and Goulbourn Valley riders for a spin on last years Golden Triangle Epic track. A number of Bendigo riders are keen to hit the trail and get to know members within the GV club.
Kingsley would be thrilled if several people can act as a guide allowing the group to split into several groups of rider speeds and abilities.

If you have not ridden last years Epic track the distance is 50km, don't forget to take food and adequate water.

As this is not an official club social ride participation license's will not be required, however all riders participate at their own capability and risk.

Join in the fun see you there.

Our Tuesday night Poker Race kindly sponsored by Moronis Bikes was a fun way to break up the pressure of the Summer Series points races. It was easy to tell if a rider got a good or a bad card each time they crossed the start/finish line. A bad card was followed by a lot of cursing and a good card was followed by silence as the riders tried to hide the fact they just got a picture card or an ace. In the end it was a tie for first between Youth and Experience with Nathan Burrell and Garry Lewis getting the best hands. Chris Weatherit and Rob McCormick were only a point off first place and Philip Souter and Mick Floyd a further point behind them.

There was a great turn out for Tuesday nights handicap race with some excellant racing and a few mishaps from the kids race through to adults.

Although most riders had to complete an extra lap on the shorter track the extra distance was not a problem for top finishers Andy Hayhow in 1st place, followed by Issac Buckell 2nd, Chris Weatheritt 3rd and Daniel Clarke in 4th place. Also congratulations to one of the clubs talented riders Jason Lowndes for putting in a great effort to take fastest lap with a time of 12mins 26secs. Race results are up, series points are up too!

The club wishes to thank Cycle Concepts for sponsoring the race and their generousity for last nights prizes.

Also thanks to the club members who helped work on the shorter track on Saturday, there was plenty of positive feed back about the changes.

Hooray! Its official the club is now incorporated, we recieved our certificate in the mail. Thanks to David Macauley for seeing this process through.

The next club event is a poker race on Feb 19th to be held at Cavagnas Rd, come along for a fun night of racing.

There has been a fair bit going on at the club over the past couple of weeks. We have made some exciting changes to the track layout for this race. The track will be a bit shorter and everyone's least favourite climb has been flattened out quite a bit so there's no excuses for not having a go.

We will also be making an announcement about some upcoming skills days so if you like the idea of improving your riding make sure you come along to find out what we have organised.

Planning for a weekend away at Mt Buller is well underway. There will be organised XC rides and a chance to do some downhill riding if that's more to your liking.  If you think you might like to go give Paul a ring on 0409 568 008 to get all the details.

Everyone is welcome to join in this Tuesday at whatever level you like. Kids and beginners social ride or the handicap event for all the competitive types.
Entry is free for the kids ride, $5 for the beginners ride plus $5 day licence fee for non MTBA members and cost for the handicap race is $10 (under 18 $5) plus $20 day licence fee for non MTBA members. There was a good turn out for Race three of the summer series with a number of new comers while the seasoned regulars fronted up to get additional series points and enjoy the night. There was a bit of lingering bush fire haze and the sun was in riders eyes in a handful of spots but a good time was had by all.

Shooting out of the gate Daniel Clarke kept up a great pace to take 1st spot, followed by Kristian Van Maanen, then John Harvey in 3rd with Tony Cowling 4th and Gary Lewis in 5th.
Fastest lap went to Jacob Kiel with a lap time of 16:52.

Check out the Race Results, the next race is on Feb 5th.

Our Pairs race/Christmas BBQ was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped make it such a great night.

A special thanks to all the volunteers including our own "Iron Chef" Ron McCulloch.
The kids race started off the riding action followed by the the Pairs event. The handicapper did a great job sorting the teams and in a close run affair it was Max Kettle and Andy Hayhow that took the win ahead of pre-race favourites Greg Taylor and Steve Flood with Barry Floyd and Daniel Clarke in 3rd place.

Special thanks to race sponsor Bendigo Cycles and BBQ sponsors Bath Lane Bakery and Meats on Mitchell.

We wish you a very happy Christmas and a great New Year. 2013 promises to have heaps of exciting racing and events we look forward to your generous support and seeing you there.
