Club News

Our Club:

Bendigo Mountain Bike Club was formed in th early 1990"s by a group of XC riders associated with the Bendigo and District Cycling Club (BDCC), who saw the enormous potential for MTB riding in the sorrounding Bendigo State Forrest. The club still has an affiliation with the BDCC and encourages riders to participate in both disciplines, which some do, but we have a large group of riders who only ride an MTB bike. During the past 25 years the club has produced a number of international, National and state champions, with riders such as Mat Wallace and Jarod Moroni who representing their country in World Cup races and World championships. To our current crop of riders such as: Jo Wall, Shelly Flood and Mark Flood who all were involved in National events this year. To the young crop of "up and coming" riders such as Jach Haig, Tasman and Russell Nankervis, Tyler Hamilton (2nd in under17 National Championships), Chris Hamilton and numerous others.

Our Aim:

Bendigo Mountain Bike Club recognises the health, recreational and social benefits of mountain biking.  We welcome anyone wanting to experience the thrills and challenges of mountain biking at either a recreational or competitive level.  The club believes it is important to encourage younger and not so youg riders to be involved in the sport and has a Primary aged event as part of it's regular events, and has a handicapping system that allows a wide range of riders to participate in the same race. From the 13yr or 45yr old out for his/her 1st race, to the Elite rider. We have people participate on full ridgid 7 speed bikes with flat pedals, to the $9000 Cannodales scalpes, this is one of the strength of MTBing, if they have a MTB bike they can have ago.

Knowledge and Skills:

Want to know more about selecting and maintaining a mountain bike or tips on riding techniques and skills. Members are always willing to share information and expertise.  Riding with other mountain bikers is the best way to sharpen those skills while exploring the exciting terrain of the Bendigo bush.
