"After a pleasant one and a half  hour drive from Melbourne, your first glimpse of Bendigo is through an avenue of majestic plane trees. Spires from a 19th century cathedral rise about the leaves. In the centre of town, historic sandstone buildings nestle amongst century-old gardens and established trees."  Click Here to find out more.

Our Club:

Bendigo Mountain Bike Club was formed in th early 1990"s by a group of XC riders associated with the Bendigo and District Cycling Club (BDCC), who saw the enormous potential for MTB riding in the sorrounding Bendigo State Forrest. The club still has an affiliation with the BDCC and encourages riders to participate in both disciplines, which some do, but we have a large group of riders who only ride an MTB bike. During the past 25 years the club has produced a number of international, National and state champions, with riders such as Mat Wallace and Jarod Moroni who representing their country in World Cup races and World championships. To our current crop of young riders such as Robby Hucker ( Cannondale Sram sponsored rider and 2nd in the 2006-7 National XC Series), Luke Knox and Mark Flood who all were involved in National events this year.

Our Aim:

Bendigo Mountain Bike Club recognises the health, recreational and social benefits of mountain biking.  We welcome anyone wanting to experience the thrills and challenges of mountain biking at either a recreational or competitive level.  The club believes it is important to encourage younger and not so youg riders to be involved in the sport and has a Primary aged event as part of it's regular events, and has a handicapping system that allows a wide range of riders to participate in the same race. From the 13yr or 45yr old out for his/her 1st race, to the Elite rider. We have people participate on full ridgid 7 speed bikes with flat pedals, to the $9000 Cannodales scalpes, this is one of the strength of MTBing, if they have a MTB bike they can have ago.

Knowledge and Skills:

Want to know more about selecting and maintaining a mountain bike or tips on riding techniques and skills. Members are always willing to share information and expertise.  Riding with other mountain bikers is the best way to sharpen those skills while exploring the exciting terrain of the Bendigo bush.

Club Races:

Race calendars are available from Bendigo bike shops or on our web page. The club runs regular monthly MTB events and has committed itself to running three bigger events for 2007 along with our 3 stage MTB Tour. These include the a 6 hour endurance event (part of the successful VIctorian State Enduro Series) the Golden Triangle Epic Marathon event and for 2007 the Victorian State Championships. The club is made up of enthusiastic riders who enjoy the social, recreation and sporting aspects offered by mountain biking. Riders of any age are welcome to join.  Our current membership includes riders from age nine through to fifty eight. Juniors have the opportunity to race on a modified track.  A Participation category gives new riders the opportunity to try the race tracks at their own pace.  Riders need to purchase a licence to participate:

Racing Day Licence:  $15

Participation Licence: $5

Junior Day Licence:    $5

The MTB Community:

The Bendigo Mountain bike club has successfully organised races including the 8Hour Enduro and the Bendigo MTB Tour as well as hosting a State MTB event. These events attract riders from across the state. As a club we are active in entering events organised by other MTB Clubs.  They include Enduro events (6, 12 and 24hour races) and State or National Title races.  Members may form teams or enter individually.  Travel can be arranged if sufficient numbers are attending an event.

Meetings and Social Events:

We meet at the Bridge Hotel (cnr Bridge St and Water St) usually on the first Monday of the month from 6pm – 7.30pm.  Additional meetings may be held leading up to club events. Counter meals, bar-b-ques or a weekend away provide social opportunities to members and their families.

The Bendigo Cycling Community:

Bendigo enjoys the reputation as the cycling centre of Victoria.  We are able to put you in contact with the many other cycling events and social rides in the Bendigo region.
