 HIGH PERFORMANCE MOUNTAIN BIKING

 THE ROLE OF THE COACH

1. To match an appropriate work load to an athletes current fitness level and goals.

2. To use current reputable training techniques that will train the body to cope with the specific tasks required for high performance mountain biking

3. To communicate and listen on a regular basis with an athlete. To be flexible as circumstances change and goals move. Busy lifestyles and commitments outside of cycling require every athlete to constantly adapt their training along the way.

4. To provide information and references to help the athletes understand all aspects of training and racing.

5. To compile and make available the knowledge gained through out the coach’s cycling career. This knowledge may come from many sources such as the A.I.S, V.I.S, coaching courses, training partners and of course trial and error. (Access to knowledge on any given topic always speeds up the learning process. This gives the athlete time to research new frontiers of their chosen sport).
